We are expecting unusually high winds and rain on Saturday and therefore in the interests of public safety we have made the decision to cancel some elements of our Smugglers Night activities.
We are continuing with our activities at the Village Hall and High Street. The Hall will have a Father Christmas grotto, Smugglers Stall, Face Painting and Nail Bar along with hot and cold beverages.
Coupled with this, many eateries and pubs will be offering good food and sustenance throughout the village.
The High Street itself is closed to vehicles from 3pm and will have entertainment including drumming bands and Woody the one man Band. We hope to have a children’s procession from the Village Hall to Neville Road and activities from the Village Green will take place at Neville Road.
Stalls will be dotted around the High Street.
The Firework display, torch procession and Bonfire will not take place. We are sure you will share our disappointment at these necessary changes but like us look forward to next year being back on track.
Rottingdean Smugglers.
So gutted and disappointed but it is truly understandable for the safety of all. Your Night is always so wonderful….
What bad luck!! We so,enjoyed last year as part of Southover our first out meeting and the fireworks on the beach were awesome!! Best wishes for next year and hope the weather will be kinderxx
Such a shame for you all as I know how much work you have all put in towards a successful night. Much success for the night in the events you will be putting on.
Really sorry to hear this, however Rottingdean and Saltdean Lions will still be
having their Charity Auction at The White Horse and also helping the Smugglers by helping to run the street bucket collection in aid of charity.
Question – will I be able to drive down Steyning Ave and turn right to Falmer Road at 5.30pm or do I need to go via coast road and Ovingdean double back to Falmer Road/Rottingdean end?
